GENERAL FAQ

Q: What does Cold-Pressed Juice mean?

A: Cold Pressing is the process of extracting nutrient rich juice from fresh produce by using high pressure exerted through a Hydraulic Press. At JUS JUS, all of our fresh produce drinks are produced using the highest quality juice pressing machines that exist.  This hydraulic cold-pressed method of juice extraction provides a minimum mixing of air with the juices which results in very slow oxidation or decomposition. The tremendous pressure exerted by our hydraulic press exerted by our press gently and completely extracts the natural fruit sugars, vitamins, trace minerals, enzymes, and other vital elements. Cold-pressed juice is the only method of juicing that enables juice to be bottled (without preservatives) and still maintain a 72-hour shelf life with little loss of taste, nutrients, or color.

Q: How does JUS JUS differ from the juice I typically buy at the supermarket, at other juice bars or at home?

Juices sold at supermarkets (conventional juice) are all treated to maintain a longer shelf life. This is accomplished by adding unhealthy preservatives and pasteurizing. JUS JUS  is 100% unadulterated - raw and unpasteurized, without additives, preservatives or pesticides.

The juices you make at home or buy at common juice bars are all made in centrifugal juicers or rotary juicers. A significantly faster processing method, but overall less efficient. As the blade inside a centrifugal juicer spins at a high speed, it generates a lot of heat. The heat oxidizes and separates nutrients naturally found in the whole fruits and vegetables, rendering those nutrients that make it into the juice less pure. Juice made at home or consumed at a common juice bar must be consumed immediately.

Q: What is pasteurization and why isn't JUS JUS pasteurized?

Pasteurized juice is heated to a high temperature before it is sold. About 99% of all juices sold in the European Union are pasteurized, namely because it prolongs the shelf life of juice and is more cost-effective than not pasteurizing. Unfortunately, pasteurization kills the vital raw vitamins, minerals and enzymes, rendering most juice nutritionally deficient and pointless. JUS JUS promotes the consumption of living, fruit and vegetable juice, and therefore we mindfully press, bottle and sell a truly raw and unpasteurized product - unheated and untreated.

Q: Are the juices definitely fresh upon delivery?

Your juices will be delivered straight to your doorstep in a recyclable cooler with ice packs. Just take them out of the cooler and out them straight into your fridge. We produce every juice to order each morning, ensuring freshness and quality.

Q: Where do you source your produce?

A: Our juicing facility at the Helenalei 2, Antwerpen is open for all of you to see and witness the high quality of the produce that goes in your juice and we are proud to show it! We work closely with local farmers for all our greens and vegetables and depending on the season, we source our fruits from South America and Southern Europe. Our farmers and suppliers follow strict governmental guidelines when it comes to avoiding synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. No GMOs, irradiation, industrial solvents or chemical additives are used in their practice. However, it is likely that due to extreme weather conditions, certain produce can be very hard to source from them; for example, spinach, mint and parsley is hard for our farmers to grow under extreme climate and in those occasions, it will be necessary to source them from other mainstream suppliers. We will keep you informed when shortage of produce or seasonability might force us to change a recipe or look for other suppliers and farmers.

Q: Why is juice so expensive?

Not all juice is created equal. The average Jus Jus drink takes more than 1.5 kilos of fruits and vegetables to make. As mentioned above, our produce is all sourced from local and international farmers that follow strict, regulated guidelines. No GMOs, pesticides, additives or irradiation is used to grow them, so you are consuming the best quality fruit and greens in each bottle of Jus Jus! Additionally, the process of cold-pressing and juicing requires more involvement. When you consider what you're consuming everyday during a JUS JUS CLEANSE, approximately 9 kilos of freshly pressed fruits and vegetables, and the process involved, it's actually quite inexpensive! No mess, no prep, no fuss.

Q: Do you freeze your juice? Do you use frozen produce?

The energetic levels of a frozen juice are quite low and depressed. Juice must be raw to maintain its life force and energy. WE DO NOT FREEZE OUR JUICE EVER. We produce fresh and vibrant juice every day, all day long!

Q: Where is your production facility?

We hand craft our juices and milks fresh in our kitchen facilities in Antwerp, Belgium with a lot of love and attention.

Q: Is it Kosher?

A: Our juices are made to Kosher standards and we are in the process obtaining our Kosher certification.

Q: Why is the Pineapple Mojito juice pink or brown?

A: Discoloration is completely normal. Sometimes the high level of polyphenols and antioxidants may turn it pink or brown. This is totally natural and the juice is safe to drink.

Q: Why does this juice look different from when I last purchased it?

A: Our juices are handcrafted, so at times variations may occur, such as:

Settling or Separation: JUS JUS has no additives, and only additives can prevent the natural settling process. Before drinking, be sure to give your juice a good shake! That's all!

White Specs: Juices that contain ginger may have white specks in the bottom of the juice bottle. Not to worry! These white specks are ginger sediment, which naturally settle to the bottom of the bottle.

Color Variation: The Pineapple Mojito or other of our juices mixed with pears and/or apples may vary in color, from gold to yellow-green to pink to brown. Because JUS JUS uses the freshest ingredients available to us at all times of the year, the juice can vary in color each time you purchase it.

Q: Do the juice offerings change with the seasons?

All produce is affected by weather fluctuation so certain fruits and vegetables are only available during different times of the year. We will always announce and notify our clients when certain produce will not be available.

Q: Can my kids drink JUS JUS?

Of course! We've designed the taste profiles so that kids love the juices too. Ask your health care professional if our fresh, unpasteurized drinks are right for their developing bodies and minds. Keep in mind that children should not be doing our cleanse programs.

Q: Why don't you use glass bottles? How are you environmentally responsible?

A: At this time, plastic is actually a more environmentally sound choice than glass. We use recyclable rPET1 bottles, made from recycled plastic material for the following reasons:

1. Plastic uses considerably less energy than glass to be recycled.

2. rPET1 doesn't leach, and is generally the safest single-use plastic bottle choice.

3. It is dramatically lighter than other bottle options, which means less fuel is used to create and deliver each bottle.

4. Plastic is more space and energy efficient way to package our juice. A single plastic bottle uses fewer resources to create, fill, ship, and distribute than a single glass bottle. This is because glass bottles weigh up to nine times more than plastic bottles.

5. All our packaging (cooler bags, cardboard boxes, containers) is the most environmentally sound and of course can be recycled too.
